Jack (he's the small black and tan one)and his friend Canyon

Michael was in his stroller, Jack was on his leash, and we were out on a gorgeous day for a walk to meet up with my husband for lunch on one of the local lakes. We decided to take a shortcut through the woods so we could be there on time (we are rarely ever on time since Michael has been born). Jack is usually a pretty vocal dog so I didn't really pay attention when he was doing this strange low growly thing. I tuned it out much like husbands tune out wives....aaaahhh I digress...anyways, he was really persistant. Then I heard a rustling. I tuned that out because it could have been the wind or a squirrel. Jack usually barks at squirells and wind.
Boy Howdy was I wrong! It was a bull moose. He just looked at me and Jack. I thought he was going to turn around but I was wrong again. He decided to come straight us at a pretty fast pace. It was lucky that I had planned out this scenario before many times in my crazy head. I unhooked Jack's leash and let him take off after the moose. I know that seems cruel but I have a 5 month old and if it has to be us or the dog I am definitely choosing the dog. Jack chased Bullwinkle into the woods and I plucked Michael out of his stroller as fast as I could and headed in the the trees off the trail. We waited there until I couldn't hear Jack or the moose anymore. I decided we were safe enough to get going and strapped Michael back in his stroller and continued on our walk. Who wants to stick around and wait for them to come back. Only Jack and the moose knew what happened after that. About 20 minutes up the road my beloved Jack Beans found us and hasn't left my side since. What a day!!!
