A few things of randomness....

I can't believe that I totally forgot to tell you that last week Michael got into the bathtub all by himself with all of his clothes on. Lately, we have been giving baths to Mikey in the morning. I like for him to be really clean when I drop him off at daycare or when we go to lunch with friends. I don't want to be that mom that has the smelly kid. Also, Mike's hair looks really good freshly washed. Hey, I never said I wasn't vain. I am. I also reflect vanity on my child. moving on......so I filled the tub with warm water and bubbles and all that goodness. I am about to plunk him into the pleasure that is the bath, when I remember that I even though I got all of his clothes ready, I did forget the diaper. Not a problem. I'm super-mom right? Wrong. Mikey went ahead and stepped into the tub on his own accord. When we put him to bed in the winter we dress him in socks, a onsies, fleece footie pajamas, and the obvious diaper. They were all soaked. I would have taken pictures but I was too busy wringing out sopping wet jammies and trying to figure out what to do with a piss and water filled diaper. I have not ever seen a diaper get that huge. Pretty disgusting.

On another note....do you think that your toddler speaks well? I totally do. That is, until I have to translate everything he says to my friends and family. It makes me nervous to leave him with people because I know they don't get what he is saying. I am tired of repeating everything he says. He is right there, it's perfectly clear what he is saying (apparently, to me only) so why do I have to repeat it? Frustrating.

That's hilarious that he got into the tub himself! He must love his bath! I'm sure that people would understand Mikey if they spent just a few hours with him....but it is weird how clear it sounds to us moms!

I'm sorry... I almost never understand todlers... because I'm not around them all the time... it makes sense when a friend tells me what they said but until then I have not clue... I think you feel the same as most parents though...

I was just randomly reading your blog and thought I would leave a comment about Mikey's speech. Although I don't have kids, I'm a speech-language pathologist and work with speech & language disordered kids all day long. Depending on how old your child is, I'm sure his speech is just fine. All children go through a developmental sequence with their speech. To ease your mind, just google Speech-Language Developmental Milestones and see if Mikey is on track. If you're still worried, then contact a Speech Pathologist and have him evaluated. Your local school district should have services available (free!). Some states even have an Early Intervention program (0-3 years) you can look into (also free!).
