When?

When your son tells you he wants "long boy hair", what do you say? He doesn't want long mommy hair. He want's surfer boy hair. He is about 2 haircuts behind at this point. He just doesn't want "haircuts" until summer. I want to let him have individuality but I feel that it's too early for that. I, being a complete and utter dictator, want to cut that hair off. He absolutely does not want that.
I am letting him grow it out. I even hide my grimacing face when he brings up the topic. I do ask if he is ready for a hair cut every other week or so. What do I say to him when it's time for a trim? I'm not talking about a cut to change length, just a cut to keep it looking good....or less shaggy. Is it ok for Mikey to be assertive at this age? I think maybe I like clean cut boys so much I just can't warm up to the idea of "long boy hair".

i need to see a picture of this!!! I cannot picture it.

Maybe you could find a photo of a cool boy with only SLIGHTLY long boy hair and convince him that is what he wants...and not, like....LONG. No ponytails. Dear God.

Becca also wants her hair longer and I'm not ready for it! I feel your pain.

Ha! Ha! I might mention that the barber gives out lollipops...

Mikey doesn't care about lollipops...I wish he did...in this case.
