Kids say the darndest things...

I am not going to try to type how Mikey sounds. It's exhausting and frankly, it's hard to read. Just know he doesn't speak clearly. He sounds like a normal 2 1/2 year old.

We live right next to a pasture. I am not kidding. We have maybe 15 head of cattle a day just hanging around our fence. We can watch the farmer harvest wheat. We have seen deer, wild turkey, and more coyotes than we can count. I see a wild animal almost every day. We have rabbits, snakes, spiders, scorpions, and most the most horrendous of them all....mice and rats.
It's getting to be fall and that means it's time to take action. It's time to buy poison and traps.

Monday Michael and I went to meet some friends at Chuck E. Cheese. I figured that when we were done with the play date, we could swing by the pest control place and pick up the necessary weapons for the advancing autumnal war of the rodents.

Michael asked me where we were going when he noticed we were in a different part of town. Here is the conversation.
Mike: Momma, where are we going?
Momma: We are going to the store to buy some stuff to keep rodents out of the house.
Mike: What are rodents?
Momma: Mice and Rats, Momma doesn't want them in our house.
Mike: He is quiet for a while....then he says, "Why don't you just spank them?"
Momma: You want momma to spank them? I can't catch them, they're too fast for me. The mice are fast.
Mike:....And the rats. Spank the rats too.

Mike has come into my room telling me there are monsters in his room. I usually go into his room and yell at the monsters. I tell them they need to go home to their mommies, and if they don't leave I will have to spank them. Then, I clap my hands together very loudly to simulate a spanking noise. This is why he thinks you can just spank mice and rats and they will go home.
I really do love being a mom.
