Did you ever have a day that just started sooooo slow and you knew it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day but, then it turned out you were completely wrong?
I just couldn't get going this morning when Michael came in to wake me up. I knew we had to be somewhere at 10:30 but I just didn't want to go.
I finally got moving and we made it to the 28th annual Ranch Roundup on time. From 10:30-1:30 it was free and for kids. I was so tired this morning that I forgot my camera. That really made me bummed out.
After we got there I totally pepped up. When we were walking up to the coliseum we saw a saddled up longhorn. Michael walked right up to the longhorn and said, "I'm gonna ride it, I'm not scared." I told him we better get inside, there were more animals in there for us to see. He had his little cowboy hat on the whole time and kept tipping it at people telling them "Howdy" as we passed. What a weirdo. Where did he learn that?I like most things country but I am not really country, and don't consider myself to be country, if you know me you know what I mean. I love being isolated on open spaces and listening to country music but I really enjoy a trip to larger city for shopping and stuff. I love cowboy boots and skirts but not everyday.
Anyways, Michael told me today he was going to be a cowboy. I asked him if maybe he wanted be a teacher, or a doctor or something but he said," No Yanks (thanks)!, Ima be a cowboy, Yeeeeee-HAW!.......ok mamma?" I just sighed and replied, "Ok Mike. No bull riding though." He frowned for a bit and said, "Yeah, ok...you get big ouchies that way." I just nodded along.
We saw and played with the tiniest, and cutest piglets (they were only 3 weeks old, one lady told me that the piglets were so precious she would never eat bacon again), we pet and fed rabbit, goats, hens, a donkey and a llama. We saw mucho horses and calves. We rode a pony 3 times, saw 2 junior rodeo queens, had delicious hotdogs and lemonade. There was a mechanical bull and some races for the kids too and the best part was that is was FREE! And yes, you most certainly could ride the longhorn.
So it turned out to be a fantastic day. I sure learned alot about my kid. Who knew he wanted to be a cowboy? I knew he thought it was great that we live on a farm (we don't he just thinks we do) and I know he wants a tractor more than anything in the world, I just didn't know he wanted to be a cowboy. I bet Scott will just be happy that Michael doesn't want to be a singer/dancer anymore.

Oh man. I would LOVE to see a picture of Michael in his cowboy hat on the longhorn! How cute!
Too cute about the cowboy hat and telling everyone "howdy!" That sounds like a fun day.
I also like your new blog look.
