I heart Wall-e

We took Mikey to his first movie on Sat afternoon. It was a perfect stormy day for sitting in a theatre.

Mikey is a huge Pixar fan. The movie Cars is a staple here. We have 2 copies of it. One stays here at the house and the other travels to where ever we are going just in case there is a viewing opportunity. Not only does he have to have the movie in his bag, there are three cars that accompany the movie so he can play with them while he watches the movie. I did not set this up. He decided that we have to leave the house with them. I choose my battles wisely and I choose NOT to battle this. If we don't leave with them it's a huge to-do complete with tantrum (this usually causes us to be later than normal to our destination).

We decided since he loves Cars and Finding Nemo that his first movie should be Pixar's Wall-E. We really loved it. I thought it might be a little slow for a 2 yr old but Mikey did surprisingly well. He sat through it. There were no tantrums, no questions, no loud outbursts. He did tell me a few times when certain characters were on screen, but that wasn't a big deal.

He did so well that maybe I will be able to take him to the theatre more often. It's cheaper than jump for joy (a jumping castle facility with nothing to do but bounce like mad). Also, it's much cooler than going to the park when it's 100 F out.You should note that we did this after running around all morning so he was ready for some downtime.
We are going to see Kung Fu Panda tomorrow. Should be interesting!

My parents took me to see E.T. for my first movie....What was yours?

ET was one of my first...but I watched it with my hands over my face most of the time...I still get the willies watching it. My grandparents also took me to go see Snow White when it was rereleased in the theatre when I was little. And that was amazing!

I think my first was STar Wars - and I remember being convinced we were in the wrong theatre when the previews came on. Holly's first (only?) was Curious George. We checked out the bathroom a lot. Julia's was Brother Bear. We checked out the bathroom a lot. I guess Alan hasn't been to a movie. The girls are going to the new American Girl movie today with a friend. Fun!

I have no idea what my first movie was, but Etta has yet to have her first movie. I suppose Chloe's first movie will be Etta's first movie. That's what she gets when we have them so close together. Wall-E does look cute though. I think Etta is ready to go to a movie. If Nemo was in the theater, we'd be going to that one. She could watch it every day if I'd let her. I suppose Etta's Nemo is Mikey's Cars. Kids are so strange.

I don't remember my first movie....

I'm glad to hear Mikey enjoyed it. This is something I've wanted to do with Becca for a long time...maybe I'll try it!

Also, if you have a Regal Cinemas near you, they often have great kids movies for FREE or CHEAP over the summer. This week near me is Rugrats and Shrek the Third for free! Look up regmovies.com and you can see in your state if there are free movies near you! Here is SA they have them, and also in Tucson for sure!

I don't remember my first movie either; I want to say something Disney...maybe Cinderella?

Andrew is DYING to see Wall-e; therefore, he is dragging me out this Sat. to go see it with him. I'm not that interested, but maybe I'll change my mind.

Glad Mikey did so well...Salem wouldn't behave and she would be running like mad all over the place!

I miss you guys, I am so jealous you went and saw Walle. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so we can watch it a home. Tia L

Can't believe he's getting old enough to sit still through the movie! I want to see Wall-E... guess I'll have to adopt some kids so I can go without being the 'crazy lady'. Usually I'd blame Patrick for wanting to go (we both love Pixar) and we'd go just the two of us, but since he's gone, there goes that idea... Heard Kung Fu Panda was good too :) My first movie was Bambi

I can't remember what the first movie I saw in theater is. I just wanted to say that I and my girlfriend went to watch Wall-E on Thursday night and we both enjoyed it too. We are Pixar & Dream Works fans.
