My Dirty Little Secret

Ok, so it's not really dirty, but still a fact that I would prefer not to let out. I might as well in case someone is going through or has gone through and would like to feel a little better or not alone.
I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy. I mean A LOT! The truth is that I stopped looking at the scale after 40 lbs or 50 lbs. I go back and forth because I can't really remember what I told people. My mom and I and another friend (I can't say who. That way you don't track her down and ask her) were out to dinner the other night and talking about the weight gain during pregnancy. My mom told me that she remembers exactly how much I weighed at my last appointment. She was in town and went with me, I had the baby 2 days later. Let's just say that after I did the math in my head I was shocked! Ladies and a few gentlemen brace yourselves. When all was said and done I gained almost 70 lbs. 68 to be precise. I really think that my conscious mind blocked that out. I know I stopped looking at the scale after 36lbs. So I really had no idea. I vaguely remember the last weigh-in but was trying desperately to ignore the numbers, much like I try desperately to squeeze in to my old jeans. That's it. I feel better now that it's out. Unless you gained more than I did don't comment on it. I already wish that I could go back in time and put down the 9x13 pan of brownies that I ate on an almost daily basis, or the footlong subs, or cookies and God knows what else.

I'm commenting because I want to let you know, you aren't alone. All my tiny little friends gained around 60 pounds. One of them has kept a little bit of the weight and actually looks tons better now. The other still looks like a waif. From the pictures I've seen on your blog, you look wonderful, even if you can't squeeze into your old jeans. I can't either.

Would you really want to put the brownie pan down? I mean, WHO CARES? You have a healthy baby...you are already back down to a small size!! It is the one time in your life you can gain weight without people looking at you funny. I say ENJOY IT! Enjoy every last quarter pounder with cheese meal. I know I did! I didn't even get weighed during the last two weeks of my pregnancy and I have no idea how much I gained.

I know quite a few people who gained close to 70 pounds! In England they don't even weigh pregnant women to keep people from obsessing about it. I wish they did that here. Because, really, it shouldn't matter to us as much as it does. You look GREAT and have nothing to worry about!

You do look great! You can always just buy new jeans. And, shame on your mom for remembering and then reminding you how much you weighed! :)

From your pictures, I think that you look great!

By the way, how do you put the links on the side of your page (your friends pages) and how do you get the map on there?

I for one probably gained 70+ lbs when I was preggo with my son. All I know is that towards the end I was weighing more than my father (who is 6'2" BTW!!) and I refused to weigh in. But frankly I really didn't care~ when will you ever be able to eat to your hearts content chocolate & peanut butter Hagen-Daz like I did? Not to mention cheese burgers & mexican food.

Even Jason gained 20 pounds! Ha ha :) I was looking at a picture from Christmas 2004 and we look like we were stung by bees!! I love it!! We are all back to our normal weight- plus they say that by the time your kid is 18 months oldyou should naturally be near your natural weight.

You look fabulous anyways so don't sweat it~
