This one is a little strange, I have to admit. One of things that I love about Alaska are the heaters in the homes. We and many homes in the North have radiant heating, and some parts of our house have heated pipes in the floor. I know there is a
technical term for that but I don't know what it is. I love this heating system, not just because it keeps us warm on a day like today (-18), but because it
makes a really neat crackling noise when it turns on. I love this sound. At first though, it really freaked me out. I thought someone was trying to break in and do God knows what....anyways, now that I know what the crackling is, I love it. It's a comforting feeling and one sound that I will miss when someday we leave here. Oh jeez, I don't want to leave here.
The thing that is behind Mikey and behind the star piano and below the outlet is the heater.

Our heaters werre making a freaky sound yesterday--almost a popping crashing sound. It is freaky...but I see what you mean about it being a cool sound as well. I never really thought about it!
Mikey looks so buttoned down and pressed and brushed in that picture! Too cute!
When will you find out where you'll be going next?
Katie that was at your house when we had lunch with Angie and Laura. I am glad that he looks so well put together.
Now you'll get to hear the sound of the AC turning on every 20 minutes and see $ signs while it's running. Oh, what fun we're going to have in "Tay' haus!"
